Here are some tasty breakfast recipes to try occasionally with your family at the weekend.
nutella Toast Shapes

Ingredients - Serves 1
- 15g (2 heaped teaspoons) portion of nutella
- 1 piece of wholemeal toast

Method
- Choose a large cookie cutter to create a fun toast shape...try a heart, circle or even a car shape!
- Place in the centre of a piece of wholemeal toast and press firmly to cut out the shape.
- Spread a 15g (2 heaped teaspoons) portion of nutella in the middle of the toast
Tips
- Use small cutters for fun bite-sized shapes from one piece of toast
Breakfast Roll-Ups

Ingredients - Serves 1
- 1 medium wholemeal soft tortilla
- 1 banana
- 15g (2 heaped teaspoons) nutella

Method
- Spread nutella on tortilla wrap.
- Peel banana and place on the side of the tortilla wrap. Roll shell around banana.
- Cut into 1" thick sections to make several rolls.
Tips
- Kids can make this easy to prepare recipe. Get them to help peeling the banana and making the rolls, then watch them enjoy eating their own breakfast creation.
- Serve with milk or orange juice to round out your breakfast.
nutella Toast Shapes

Ingredients - Serves 1
- 40g (1/2 cup) porridge oats
- 220ml (1 cup) semi-skimmed / 1% skimmed milk or water or half and half
- 15g (2 heaped teaspoons) nutella

Method
Hob
- Place oats in pan, add liquid and mix well.
- Bring to the boil and simmer gently for 4-5minutes stirring occasionally.
- Add a 15g (2 heaped teaspoons) portion of nutella to the middle of the porridge.
Microwave
(based on 850W as a guide only, adjust for your oven)- Mix oats and liquid in large microwaveable bowl and cover with suitable pierced film
- Cook on full power for 2.5 minutes and stir well. Re-cover.
- Cook on medium power for another 2minutes, stir again and leave to stand for 2 minutes
- Add a heaped teaspoon of nutella (1-2 teaspoons) and stir in

- You can use instant porridge if you prefer
- As a rule you use double the liquid of the porridge oats but if you like your porridge thicker or thinner you may need to adjust
- Use milk if making porridge for children to provide them with calcium
